TV Legend Barbara Eden, Football Star Israel Idonije, Journalist Art “Chat Daddy” Sims and Delta Gamma Fraternity to be Honored at the "Dining in Darkness".

Prevent Blindness America, the nation's leading volunteer eye health and safety organization dedicated to fighting blindness and saving sight, will be hosting “Dining in Darkness,” a fundraising event aimed to focus on the challenges faced by those with vision loss and the importance of vision and eye health.

The Chicago Marriott Downtown will be the setting for the Prevent Blindness America Dining in Darkness event -

                                   ****POSTPONED UNTIL OCTOBER 2010****

This unique event will allow attendees to experience an evening in the life of millions of Americans who are suffering from visual impairments.
The purpose of the event is to not only recognize those for their considerable contributions to their respective fields, but to raise funds to support Prevent Blindness America and its ongoing vision and eye health and safety initiatives.
Prevent Blindness America will be presenting its Community Vision Awards, honoring those who have donated their time and efforts for the betterment of the community.

This year’s honorees include television legend Barbara Eden, the Israel Idonije Foundation, and Art “Chat Daddy” Sims, relationship expert for “You & Me This Morning” on WCIU-TV Chicago. Special recognition will be given to the national women’s fraternity, Delta Gamma, for their years of service to Prevent Blindness America and its sight-saving efforts.
Delta Gamma has been a leading champion of vision issues including campaigns that collect eyeglasses for the needy and offering hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants through its “Sight for Service” program, which began in 1936.  Members of the Chicago Delta Gamma Alumnae Association will be on hand to accept the award. Individual tickets for Dining in Darkness may be purchased for $150 or tables for up to 10 persons are also available. Ticket prices for the event include cocktails, a full-course dinner and awards ceremony.
